Like many women in The Lovelady Center program, Kelsey came to us looking for a transition. Addiction had taken her life down a path that she didn’t want for herself or her family. She came to us looking for the support she needed to get her life back on track.
Journey to The Lovelady Center
Many of our Loveladies have a “wake-up call” of some kind that brings them to us. For Kelsey, it was a DHR referral. When she lost custody of her daughter, she knew that it was time to make serious changes in her life. She wanted to provide the best life possible for herself and her daughter—but needed some support to get there. That’s exactly what The Lovelady Center was created to do. We help women rebuild their lives and walk forward with faith-driven hope for the future.
Faith-Based Initiatives
It’s safe to say that the Lord led Kelsey to us for a very important reason. Not only did she regain custody of her daughter, but she also built her foundation in Jesus.
“While I was in my addiction, nothing seemed to go right for me, no matter how hard I tried. Now, with Jesus in my life, I am able to do anything and everything that I want to accomplish. When problems do occur, I don’t let them take my peace. I go to the Lord.”
With her newfound belief, Kelsey is better equipped to reenter society as a well-equipped woman of God.
Meeting Women Along the Way
In addition to all of the amazing things that Kelsey has discovered and accomplished during her time in our program, she’s also met people who will continue to have a profound impact on her life.
She thanks Joann Henry, a client representative, for much of her success. Joann brought her into the program and has been her biggest supporter since day one! This kind of encouragement goes a long way to empower the women in our program.
Kelsey also knows that God worked through The Lovelady Center to bring her together with her best friend, Desta. After working through the program together, these two women will continue to help each other grow and prosper, no matter what life has in store for them.
Hope-Filled Future
Since joining us, Kelsey has made huge strides toward a brighter future. She regained custody of her daughter, who was able to remain with her during the program. Through the help of Birmingham Work Faith, she gained valuable interview skills, like how to build resumes and cover letters. Because of this, she already has a job lined up after graduation. She’s going to be working at Sierra Chevrolet as a service advisor. We’re so proud to have been a part of this amazing journey!
“The Lovelady Center has taught me that sobriety isn’t measured by days without using, but by actions taken daily. As long as you let Jesus into your life and want better for yourself, The Lovelady Center can truly change your life.”
