Our 2022 Goals: What Lovelady Hopes to Accomplish this Year

After a successful year in 2021, The Lovelady Center never slowed down. We’re constantly looking for new ways to help more women in our community. Keep reading to learn what we’re hoping to accomplish in 2022. 

Setting Our Sights

The Lovelady Center has set two main goals for 2022. 

1. Seeing 230+ Graduates

Last year, 212 women graduated from our program. That means 212 women are now equipped to overcome barriers to success and are able to walk forward with a faith-driven hope for the future. In 2022, we want that number to be even higher. By having more graduates, we’re able to ensure that more women are able to break the cycle of poverty and incarceration.

2. At Least 20 Women Obtain their GED

Education is big here at The Lovelady Center. It’s often a huge barrier to success, which is why we consider it “Lovelady Law” to focus on your education while in the program. Last year, 17 women obtained their GEDs while in our program. And this year, we’re wanting to grow that number to 20!  

Improvements to Our Facility

While these women are in our program, it’s home for them and their children. That’s why we focus on making sure that it’s a healthy environment for them as they work to build a better future for themselves once they graduate. We have some exciting improvements in the works for this year!

Afterschool Area

The children that stay with us deserve a fun, engaging atmosphere to keep them entertained and safe after school. That’s why we’re wanting to improve our afterschool area! Our plans include a vibrant, creative space and kid-friendly atmosphere. 

Dental Clinic

Dental health is an important indicator of overall health, which is why we’re so blessed to have our dental clinic. Walking out with a smile to be proud of is also a huge confidence booster for the women in our program. We’re so thankful for all of the dentists that volunteer at our facility and make this important work possible. In 2022, we’re looking to develop a strategic plan to serve more ladies. 

Fitness Room

Exercise is important for physical health, but also mental health. That’s why we’re remodeling one of our old classrooms into a new fitness room for our clients! This space will include workout equipment and also a space for us to provide different group fitness classes. 

Playground Update

By upgrading our playground equipment, we’ll be able to continue providing a fun, safe place for the children staying with us to play outside. There’s nothing better than seeing a kid’s eyes light up when they see a new playground! 

Remodels

We want our facility to be a home for the women and children in our program. That's why we’re remodeling and updating client rooms with fresh paint, furniture, and more! This is an ongoing project that’s always important to us.

In order to serve more women in the community, we’re also transforming our 4th-floor common area into a loft! It will have a dorm feel with its own bathroom. This will be a unique space that allows us to help more women become contributing members of our community.
