The Lovelady Center to Host 24-Hour Livestream:
Real Conversations on Homelessness, Addiction & Hope

What if a simple bench became a platform for change?
Melinda MeGahee, Executive Director of The Lovelady Center, is taking a bold step—literally. For 24 continuous hours, she’ll sit outside on a bench at 7916 2nd Avenue South, Birmingham, engaging in deep, transformative conversations. City leaders, ministry partners, Lovelady residents, the homeless, and everyday citizens will gather to shine a light on the very real crises of homelessness, addiction, and mental health.
This national event—“Conversations on a Bench”—was born in Fresno, California and is now happening simultaneously across 70 rescue missions nationwide, powered by Citygate Network. Rain or shine, the livestream begins at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 9 and continues through Friday, October 10 at 2:00 p.m.
“This bench is more than a seat—it’s a statement,” says MeGahee. “Every life matters. We’re here to listen, to speak truth, and to offer the love of Jesus to those who’ve been forgotten.”
