Governor Kay Ivey
State of Alabama
Whereas, the state of Alabama recognizes that one of our most significant challenges is assisting individuals transitioning out of prison or seeking help with recovering from addiction; and
Whereas, in October of 2004, The Lovelady Center began its faith-based reentry and recovery program with six women coming directly from the Julia Tutwiler Prison for Women in Wetumpka, Alabama to the home of Brenda Lovelady Spahn; and
Whereas, since that time, over 9,000 women have entered the program built upon the belief in the value of each and every human life and whose mission is to help women rebuild their lives and to walk forward with a faith driven hope for the future;
Now, Therefore, I, Kay Ivey, Governor of Alabama, do hereby commend The Lovelady Center for their meritorious service to the women of the State of Alabama, as they seek to rebuild their lives and become contributing members of society.
Given Under My Hand and the Great Seal of the Office of the Governor at the State Capitol in the City of Montgomery on the 6th day of February 2019.
